I think, speak and write about climate. I'm currently publishing excerpts from my new book here on Medium and LinkedIn to help generate a dialogue about resilience in a hotter world, and refine my own thinking about how to deal with Bad Warming.

Bio: Tom is a Founding Partner of ArcTern Ventures (Fund I, II, III) - a privately-backed venture fund focussed on delivering next-generation clean technology at scale. Tom has a strong entrepreneurial background, including the founding of Voice Courier Inc. in 1991 and leading its expansion to more than 100 employees in three countries. He then founded VCi Green Funds, a private venture fund to provide angel and venture capital to companies developing emission-reduction technologies. Tom is an Action Canada fellow (2007-08 - manager/member for/of the Green Bonds public policy team). Tom was co-developer/owner of Planet Traveler, a low-carbon hotel in downtown Toronto. Most recently, Tom founded Domaine Heritage, a maker of fine ciders based in rural Quebec.

Tom speaks and writes about the need to make a quick transition to a low-carbon economy, and is frustrated at the lack of an adult conversation about the danger and immediacy of the upcoming climate storm.

Tom's first book “Kick the Fossil Fuel Habit: 10 Clean Technologies to Save Our World” (EcoTen Publishing) was the winner of the WhitePine NonFiction award 2010. Tom's second book Waking the Frog (ECW Press) was published spring, 2014 and quickly became a Canadian bestseller. His third - The Case for Climate Capitalism: Economic Solutions for a Planet in Crisis - was winner of the Axxiom Silver Medal, Economics 2021.

Tom has a BASc in Electrical Engineering from the University of Waterloo, a MSc from the University of London/LSE, and MA and PhD Degrees from the University of Toronto.
